Our story

Blacklight Consulting was established in 2005 as a boutique consulting business offering strategy improvement, change management and interim management services.

Blacklight’s two principals, Alex van Ravenswaaij and Joanne Yi, are experienced consultants and senior business executives with backgrounds in strategy development and implementation, operational excellence and change management.

Applying proven quantitative business principles, Blacklight Consulting has developed a tailored approach to diagnosing strategic and operational issues in order to quickly identify areas with the biggest impact an yield optimum results within a short time frame.

Irrespective of the industry, there are three key contributors to a business’ success:

  1. An effective strategy is in place
  2. Effective tools and processes are in place to execute the strategy
  3. People in the business know what is expected of them and results are measurable.

Alex van Ravenswaaij
Director – Business Strategy and Implementation

Alex is a Business Executive and Management Consultant with 20+ years experience managing businesses in the Asia Pacific region to improved profitability. He developed business strategies in Finance, Communications, Manufacturing and Service industries to identify and implement quantifiable business and operations improvements, including reduced procurement and operations expenditure.
Previously a Director with PricewaterhouseCoopers, Alex completed business improvement projects, interim management and executive mentoring assignments across local and international businesses to achieve improvements in sales, operations, supply chain and support function areas. He has a degree in Business Management, specialising in Marketing and Operations.

Joanne Yi
Principal – Organisational Capability and Change Management

Joanne is an Organisational Capability professional specialising in enabling change at a personal and an organisational level. Her achievements include transforming individual behaviour and team culture through one-to-one coaching and group facilitation.

Joanne specialises in Emotional Mastery, the ability to regain emotional control irrespective of external circumstances. By learning how to eliminate stress, dissolve negative emotions and debunk limiting beliefs, clients experience peak performance, improved decision-making and better relationships. Her clients include executives, business owners and teams undergoing significant change or stress.

Joanne has over 20 years commercial experience working in consulting and senior management roles. She has coached and facilitated workshops in Australia, USA, New Zealand and Korea. She has a degree in Computer Science and a minor in Psychology from the University of Melbourne.
